Rob Thomas & Melissa Etheridge To Perform At "Live Earth Run For Water"

Rob Thomas and Melissa Etheridge are the first artists announced as performers at the Dow Live Earth Run For Water,

a worldwide series of charity 6k runs that will take place in 100 cities across 50 countries on April 18th.  The

event will raise awareness of, and money to help solve, the global water crisis.  The runs are six kilometers

because that's the average distance many women and children walk every day just to get clean water.  The money

raised will go to Global Water Challenge, which works to bring clean, safe drinking water to people around the

globe.

Rob will perform at the Atlanta site of the event, entertaining the participants after they've completed the course.

Melissa will do the honors in Los Angeles.  Other walks will take place in Chicago, Minneapolis and New York City.

In a statement, Melissa, a noted environmental activist, said, "I want to lend my name and time to this event

because [this] is an environmental issue that affects nearly one billion people on the planet."

For more information or to sign up, visit LiveEarth.org/run.  For everyone who registers to participate from now

through March 23rd, Live Earth will donate one dollar to specifically focus on implementing safe drinking water

programs in Haiti.
