BEHIND THE SONG: "Why Don't We Just Dance"
Josh Turner knew his latest chart-topper "Why Don't We Just Dance" would be a big hit, but he was pleasantly surprised when it spent four weeks at number one on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart earlier this year. Josh shares, “It’s like, you can’t get any higher than number one, so you might as well camp out and stay there as long as you can. I knew that going into that number-one spot, it had a lot of momentum, and I was just kind of watching the trends on the chart and everything. I just had a feeling that once it got there, it had the potential to stay.” Once the song started its fourth week on top, Josh admits he was hoping for a fifth week at the summit, saying, "That's when the human nature side of me kind of kicked in. It was like, 'All right, let's go for five,' you know?"
When Josh found out the song hadn't gone on for a fifth week on top, he admits he was a little bummed. That changed quickly, though. "I was like, 'What do I have to complain about? I was at number one for four weeks?" says Josh with a laugh. "I immediately changed my attitude and outlook and just was very thankful for that feat." Josh celebrated his big accomplishment with a party at the trendy Nashville restaurant Cabana on Tuesday afternoon, March 23rd.
For his next single, Josh has chosen to release his ode to summertime fun, "All Over Me." Both that tune and "Why Don't We Just Dance" are included on his latest studio album, Haywire, now in stores and online.
