BEHIND THE SONG: "That's How Country Boys Roll"

Billy Currington rounds out his list of number ones with his most recent chart-topper “That’s How Country Boys Roll.”  This song brought Billy his fifth visit to the top, but his first visit as a co-writer of a song that he recorded.  Billy shares, “It’s so cool to have a number one as a writer.  I’m very thankful for the songwriters Brett Jones and Dallas [Davidson].”

It was Brett, in fact, that was crucial in the creation of the tune.  Billy explains, “It was actually Brett Jones’ idea that he brought to a trip.  We had no plans of writing anything, but it just kind of happened that we did, and it was this song.  It was the only one we wrote on that trip.”  Billy admits that at first he was unsure of if he should record “That’s How Country Boys Roll” for his third album Little Bit of Everything.  He says, “I wasn’t even sure I was gonna record it. Then when we did, you know, who knows if it’s gonna come out? But it did. So it’s all kinda weird. It’s cool that we’re here.”

Billy thinks that the song “appeals to a lot of guys.”  He goes on, “It seems that way when I play the song live in different parts of the U.S.  I think they probably relate to it kind of like I did as a guy growing up.  It’s about just being a boy in the woods, in the country, and there’s a lot of people out there like that.”

On Monday, March 29th, Billy celebrated his third consecutive number one from Little Bit of Everything with two parties on Music Row.  Look for Billy’s next single to be from his upcoming fourth album which he is currently working on in the studio.
