Artist to Watch: The Band Perry

Siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry are carrying on the great tradition of family harmony in country music as The Band Perry.  But, at first, the Perrys were not so united.  Growing up in Mobile, Alabama, Kimberly, the eldest of the three, fronted her own band at the age of 15, while her younger brothers served as her roadies.  Soon, the Perry boys had enough and decided they should get their time in the spotlight, so they started their very own band.  Oftentimes, Reid and Neil’s group would open shows for their sister.

Although the Kimberly, Reid and Neil weren’t in the same band on stage, they spent countless hours playing music together at home.  Their parents, who are avid music lovers, influenced their musical tastes by exposing them to the sounds of the Rolling Stones and Loretta Lynn, just to name a few.  In 2005, they decided to join forces professionally as The Band Perry and soon found themselves with a slot on Coca-Cola’s “New Faces of Country” Tour, opening for the likes of Sugarland and Darryl Worley.  Three short years later, The Band Perry attracted the attention of Garth Brooks’ longtime manager Bob Doyle.  The trio soon hit Nashville to look for and write their own songs.

After landing a record deal, The Band Perry made their debut on country radio with “Hip To My Heart.”  On April 6th, the trio released their four-track EP exclusively on iTunes.
