Dolly Parton has written songs not only for herself but also for movies and the Broadway adaptation of her film Nine to Five. Dolly's most successful songwriting venture has to be "I Will Always Love You." The song has been a hit four times! Dolly herself reached the top of the charts with the bittersweet tune in 1974 and 1982, while pop star Whitney Houston had a number one smash with her 1992 version. Then, Parton released it again as a duet with Vince Gill in 1995.
