Single Preview: Reba McEntire, “Turn On Your Radio”

Over the past year, superstar Reba McEntire once again established why time and time again, she is a reliable hit-maker with her 31st album Keep On Loving You. The project included three Top 40 hits – the debut single “Strange,” the four-week number one “Consider Me Gone,” which is the biggest hit of her entire career, and the title track “I Keep On Loving You” which became her most recent Top 10 hit. But, for those naysayers who think the 34-year country music veteran is no longer relevant in today’s music marketplace filled with 20-somthing blonde bombshells like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, well, this new single is for you.

With “Turn On Your Radio,” the first single from Reba’s upcoming album, the superstar proves her staying power with a sassy, kiss-off anthem that is chocked full of the changing signs of the times. Not only does Reba name check two of the preferred methods of today’s communication Twitter and texting, she does it while blowing her audience away with an impressive vocal performance this is as strong as ever complete with a dose of attitude and that signature vocal gymnastic twist that is so undeniably Reba. While the song itself may be a little fluffy, there’s something irresistible with the word play found in the lyrics and the tempo makes it perfect for summer.

“Turn On Your Radio” is just a taste of what is to come with Reba’s forthcoming 32nd album and it is sure to leave fans surprised and eager to discover just what they might find on the superstar’s next step on her musical journey.
