Chilean Miracle Miners Return to Society
The Chilean miracle miners are finally seeing rescue today, and their emergence has captured the world's attention. Their reentry into society will likely only cause a problem for one of the men, but there's little doubt that these courageous miners can't wait to get back to their families and the creature comforts of home.
While the first thing on everyone's mind will likely be a shower and a hot meal, we've come up with a few things these heroes may want to consider after they've taken a few days to regain their strength.
Here are our ideas for the miracle miners' first thing to do to celebrate after getting back above ground.
1. There's some great wine in Chile. Have a bottle or three.
2. No, they didn't win the Super Bowl, but it's still an amazing feat. Go to Disneyland! Or perhaps something a little closer to home. Say Six Flags Mexico, or Brazil's Hopi Hari amusement park.
3. Swim to Easter Island. C'mon it's not even 3,000 miles! If they could stand almost two and a half months in a collapsed mine, our bets are that they could make this trip.
4. Dance, baby! What better way to stretch those limbs than with a festive salsa? These guys deserve a party.
5. Check out the Double Rainbow guy. Seriously, this was huge and they're gonna need a laugh.
6. Get... (ahem) intimate with that special someone. Spending 69 days stuck in a mine can do major psychological harm on a person. One of the miners even claimed to have met God and the Devil while down there, with God emerging the victor. Yonni Barrios, meanwhile, was greeted by his mistress upon getting out, since his wife chose to boycott the rescue after learning of her husband's infidelities. Regardless, one thing is absolutely certain. These men are dirty, exhausted, and in need of a little love.
Welcome back, guys, you are an inspiration to all of us. Chile and the world are happy to have you back.
