Phoenix Invites Daft Punk to Play Encore at NYC Show
Daft Punk was a surprise guest for the encore at Phoenix's first-ever headlining show at New York's Madison Square Garden last Wednesday. This was the first time in three years that the electro-music duo had performed in front of a live audience. D. Punk performed their song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," while Phoenix backed them with their song "If I Ever Feel Better." Following that, the techno robots provided a dance beat to the band's hit song, "1901." Videos of the encore can be seen at Consequence of Sound.
Phoenix and Daft Punk have history together. Before Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo became Daft Punk, they played in the indie-rock band called Darlin', which featured Phoenix guitarist Laurent Brancowitz. Daft Punk will be releasing their new album, the soundtrack for the film Tron: Legacy, on December 7th.
