Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert Holding Rally in Washington, D.C. This Weekend
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will take over the National Mall in Washington, D.C. this Saturday afternoon. The Comedy Central hosts will hold a joint rally -- Stewart is calling it the "Rally to Restore Sanity," while Colbert has tagged the event the "March to Keep Fear Alive."
According to the Washington Post, which obtained the permit issued by the United States Department of the Interior's National Park Service, there will be a "pre-show" at noon featuring a performance by The Roots. The rally will officially begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time with a rendition of the national anthem, followed by the introductions of Stewart and Colbert.
Law & Order actor Sam Waterston and musicians Sheryl Crow and Jeff Tweedy are among the scheduled guests. The rally is scheduled to run for two hours. The Park Service says it is expecting a crowd of 60 thousand people.
