Prince William and Kate Middleton Set The Date

The royal wedding plans are moving right along - Prince William and fiancee Kate Middleton will wed April 29th, 2011 at London's Westminster Abbey, where William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, got married in 1947.  Source tell People magazine that the couple like the "intimacy" of the Abbey, which counts as "intimate" despite being able to seat two thousand people.  Palace officials say that the Royal Family will pay for the service and the parties, while the British taxpayers will foot the bill for security -- a bill likely to run into the millions.

The wedding day will be a public holiday in the UK. The couple got engaged in October while in Kenya. Before Prince Charles could even announce the engagement, the Clarence House tweeted the news: "The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton."

A representative for Prince William's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II also stated that she is "delighted for them." The wedding will reportedly be the biggest for the royal family in 30 years since Prince Charles married Diana.
