Axl Rose Sues over Inclusion of Slash Avatar in Guitar Hero III
Axl Rose wants no part of his former Guns N' Roses bandmate Slash in the video game world. He's suing the makers of the Guitar Hero video games over the inclusion of a Slash avatar in the series' third game, which was released a few years ago. According to Variety, Rose claims Activision promised not to include an avatar of Slash in Guitar Hero III if it were to be granted the rights to use the Guns N' Roses hit "Welcome to the Jungle" in the game. Guitar Hero III includes both the song and a Slash avatar.Axl's lawsuit says he tries to avoid "confusion in the public mind" when it comes to Slash's current relationship with Guns N' Roses. He argues that the game uses the Slash avatar "in direct connection with the use of 'Welcome to the Jungle' and "exploits the prior association" between Slash and Guns N' Roses. He seeks 20 million dollars. It's no secret that Rose and Slash haven't gotten along for years now.
