Tons of Exclusive Vinyl to Be Released on Black Friday
On this year's Black Friday, while everyone is bustling to big chain stores for those holiday sales, why not make your way to your nearest independent record store? On November 26th, indie record stores around the U.S. will be releasing exclusive, limited edition vinyl records from bands and artists including Metallica, U2, MGMT, George Harrison, Tom Petty, The Black Keys, The Doors and more. This special sale is sponsored by the people behind Record Store Day, the unofficial holiday which takes place every third Saturday in April when bands release exclusive material on vinyl to indie stores.Michael Kurtz, one of the founders of Record Store Day, says that while a lot of shoppers may go to the mall first, he can "see a lot of folks swinging by afterwards" to pick up records for family members "because it's so unique." Kurtz says unique because the records are "limited, often numbered. So if somebody gets one, they're one out of 5,000 people in the entire world" that owns a copy. And even though Black Friday is considered an American experience, Kurtz says that "this will be the first year that Canadian record stores celebrate Black Friday and they're really into it."
Make your way to RecordStoreDay.com to see a full list of all the Black Friday releases, as well as all of the indie record stores that will be participating.
