Bono Talks Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Musical
With the forthcoming Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark about to make its debut in New York City, U2's Bono, who wrote the music for the show with The Edge, gave a status update on the web-slinging show. While Bono said "the music came to us effortlessly," he said that "we didn't realize was how difficult it is to stage this stuff, both technically and financially."
The musical has been plagued by delays due to casting problems, financial issues and injuries leading up to its opening night on November 28th. Bono says part of the reason is because Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is a musical on a scale that "has never been achieved before -- the kind of scale of what we're looking for." Regardless, he remains optimistic about the show's success: "I think even though it looks like there's a lot of ill will against us, I think it'll turn around." He adds that the show will go above and beyond expectations "if you can be moved, and if you believe these characters, and...you really buy into the myth, it's a great American story."
