BEHIND THE SONG: "Pray For You"

Jaron And The Long Road To Love’s debut single “Pray For You” is a song with a somewhat deceiving title. The listener may expect a sweet, thoughtful message of praying for someone and wishing them the best, but, in fact, they receive a bitter dose of the anger that often follows after a breakup. Jaron explains, “There are many phases one experiences when going through a breakup. One of those miserable phases is the anger phase. That’s where ‘Pray For You’ comes from.”

The singer-songwriter doesn’t want his fans to misinterpret his intentions though. He shares, “I think a small minority have misunderstood this song as a call to action, but it is not a song that condones praying for bad things to happen to people.” In the past, Jaron has been to that not so pleasant place in which those dark thoughts live. He reveals, “I was so hurt by my ex’s actions that I found myself in a place so low that I prayed for bad things to happen to her.”

Jaron says the song is a reality of life. It may not be pretty, but through his music he is being truthful. Jaron explains, “I think it’s intellectually dishonest to deny that human beings genuinely act this way at times. It’s ugly, but it’s honest. If God wanted perfection he would have created robots, and certainly not me.”

Penning the tune helped Jaron heal from that broken relationship. He says, “We all know that the worst thing to do with anger is to keep it inside and in writing this song, I cathartically found that I was able to put my anger aside and move on.” Jaron continues, “It’s ironic that a song that some had initially feared might bring others to become angry is actually causing anger to subside across the country and making people who may have been too angry over the split milk laugh at themselves.”

“Pray For You” is currently making its way up the country singles charts. It will be featured on Jaron And The Long Road To Love’s upcoming album Getting Dressed In The Dark which will be available on June 22.
