Minnie Pearl

“How-w-w-DEE-E-E! I’m jes’ so proud to be here!” rang out many times on the historic stage of the Grand Ole Opry and audience members simply needed just that phrase to know that Minnie Pearl had arrived.  Minnie was beloved by country artists and fans alike and was always decked out in her iconic straw hat with the price tag still attached.  Minnie hailed from Grinder’s Switch and often shared tales from the town and her woes of looking for the right man.  Minnie was portrayed by Sarah Colley Cannon who passed away in 1996 at the age of 83.
