Tina Turner

The Queen of Rock n' Roll may not have had such a regal role in the music world had she not met future husband Ike Turner while still a high school student. After meeting Ike in a St. Louis, Missouri nightclub, Tina (then Anna Mae Bullock) eventually found the courage to ask the R&B; musician if she could sing for him. Ike initially refused, but Tina's persistence eventually landed her a role as a backup singer for him, and the rest is history.
