In 1957, Elvis Presley received his draft notice and joined the U.S. Army in March of the following year and attended basic training at Fort Hood in Texas. In October, he was sent overseas to Germany to serve as part of the 3rd Armored Division. While in Germany, he met Priscilla Beaulieu who he would go on to marry. In 1960, he was discharged and returned to the States to his red-hot career in music and movies.
